Traveling to Reno: The Reno Tahoe International Airport is well connected to major international hubs in the U.S., such as Denver, Chicago, Huston, San Francisco and Los Angeles.
Taxis: Taxi rates from the airport to most of the hotels in down-town Reno are on the order fo $10.00.
Airport shuttle: For those who choose to stay at the Eldorado, a daily airport shuttle service is offered to guests with existing reservations. Shuttle service is available from 6 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. Guests will be picked up at the Reno Tahoe International Airport directly in front of the baggage claim area. At the hotel, guests are to meet at the Registration Desk. For details see the airport shuttle schedule. For other hotels, please check the availability of a shuttle with the hotel or use a taxi.
HOTELS
Block Rooms: The Workshop organizers have reserved a block of 70 rooms at the Eldorado Hotel and Casino in Reno. The Eldorado is in walking distance to the UNR Campus (about 20 minutes, see the map for a possible walking path), and there is also a courtesy bus between the hotel and the campus.
Guestroom rates:
- $39.99 (plus taxes and fees) Standard Accommodations/Sunday-Thursday
- $49.99 (plus taxes and fees) Deluxe Accommodations/Sunday-Thursday
All rates are subject to the Washoe County room tax, currently at 13.5% (subject to change). The net rate is based on single and double occupancy. A $10 nightly charge, per person, will apply should more than two persons occupy a room. In addition, there is a $3.41 nightly resort fee, which is not included in the above room rate. The fee covers in-room local and toll-free phone calls, in-room safe, airport shuttle transportation, self-parking in the garage, and valet parking. Early arrival and late departures, other than listed above, will be confirmed on a space and rate availability basis. The block room rate also includes one complimentary Execuline book per person.
Guestroom reservations: Reservations have to be made be calling directly to the Group Reservations Department at +1 800 648-5966. It is imperative that you reference the group block Nevada Bureau of Mines and Geology as well as the special group code KKNB100 to insure proper rates and accommodations are assigned.
Room block cutoff: The room block cutoff date is midnight on Friday, September 24, 2010. Reservations received after this date will only be accepted on a space and availability basis.
Guestroom check in/check out: Check in time is 3:00 p.m. Check out time is 12:00 p.m. If rooms are requested prior to check-in time, every effort to accommodate your specific requests will be made based on availability. The bell desk will be happy to store luggage for any early arrivals until check-in time.
Payments and cancellations: Individuals will be responsible for paying their own room, tax, resort fee, and incidental charges. Individual rooms can be cancelled, without penalty, up to 24 hours prior to scheduled arrival. The Eldorado shall charge the credit card used to make the reservation one night's room and tax, for cancellation within 24 hours of the scheduled arrival date or for failure of the individual to check in on the scheduled arrival date. Any remaining nights of the "no show" reservation will be automatically cancelled.
